As we all get older, it can be harder to care for ourselves. Here at Salem Mennonite Home, we understand the respect for ones dignity and quality of life. Our goal is to create an environment that is supportive, calm, and secure. Some of the personal care items that we can and will assist you with include:
• Dressing and clothing selection • Oral hygiene • Bathing or showering • Personal grooming and hair care for women and men • Incontinence management • Supportive memory care
Medication Management & Health Maintenance
• Coordinating medications with physicians and pharmacists • Medication administration and/or supervision • Twenty-four hour staffing by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medication Aides and Nurse Aides • Observation and regular assessments of physical and cognitive health • Meal reminders • Assistance to and from meals • Assistance to and from activities • Relaxing whirlpool for therapy
As we get older, it can be hard to decide what to make for meals. Maybe you feel it is easier to go without or to just have popcorn. Sound familiar? Here at the Salem Mennonite Home our residents enjoy home-cooked meals including many local favorites. Our cooks create three made from scratch meals per day, served family-style. Still hungry? Snacks are available anytime. Feeling ill? Our staff will bring a tray to your room until you are able to join us in the dining room.
We provide specialty meals for the holidays and you also get to choose dessert on your birthday!
Housekeeping & Laundry
There comes a time when housekeeping and laundry can be such a big job to do. Here at the Salem Mennonite Home, we take care of it all. Housekeeping is done daily, Monday - Friday and laundry is done regularly. We wash, dry, press and put your clothes away for you so you can enjoy your time with us.
There are many different opportunities at the Salem Home to stay physically active and healthy. The activity department offers two group fitness classes each week. If you learn and feel more comfortable in a one-on-one setting, our on-staff health advisers can assist you in the recreation room for fitness on the Nu-Step or tread mill. We also offer:
• Happy Hour every two weeks • Activity's kitchen for residents to bake • Card-making • Gardening and large outdoor deck • Recreation area for hobbies • Fitness equipment • Weekly chapel and bible studies • Cable TV • Monthly manicures and beautician services • Licensed massage therapist for mini-massage
